‘Tween’ star Julie Anne San Jose to open for David Achuleta

Filipino fans are in for a grand treat on David Archuleta’s first ever solo concert in Manila.

The local audience will not just have one whole evening to experience the balladeer’s music, but they will also get a chance to see “Tween” star Julie Anne San Jose, showing off her talent.

Julie Anne, one of GMA-7’s prized stars, was chosen among a wide pool of Filipino talents to open the show for David.

The young star said she couldn’t quite believe it when she was told that she had been chosen to open for the international singer – “but it was indeed a dream come true.”

Julie Anne, 17, was herself thrust into the limelight at an early age.

She started out in 2005 at age 11, in the singing competition “Popstar Kids,” where she landed a spot in the top five. She then recorded albums with the show’s spinoff band, Sugarpop.

A number of hosting and acting stints later, Julie Anne has proven herself to be one of the most promising young stars in the country today.

Her team-up with Elmo Magalona also continues to gain a steady following. The two are one of “Tweens” much watched and must followed love teams. They are also seen regularly on “Andres De Saya” sitcom starring Cesar Montano and Iza Calzado.

Julie Anne’s singing talent has been much noticed as well, as we see in “Party Pilipinas” every Sunday.

The young lady has surely been showcasing her singing prowess, even besting some veterans in the show with her signature “birit” songs.

She has also recorded a string of songs for the network, among them the themes for “Dyesebel,” “The Last Prince,” “Pilyang Kerubin,” “Sisid,” and “Dwarfina.”

On July 18, 8 p.m., at the Araneta Coliseum, we don’t only get a chance to watch David live, but we’ll also get to witness Julie Anne, proving that Filipino talent is indeed world-class.
