David Archuleta says goodbye to the music industry — in a new video blog out from the American Idol runner-up, he tells fans that he’ll see them in two years. During some downtime at home, David made what will be his last video for his fans, where he really opened up, letting viewers know that the last week has been QUOTE “very emotional” for him, as he says farewell to his family, friends and neighbors. A few months back, we brought you news that David made the decision to serve as a missionary for two years for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The famous singer is dedicated to keeping most of the details of his mission private, although he eventually said he’s going to South America and he added that he’s excited to learn more about Latin culture. David also told the fans that he’s going to miss sharing what he calls the “weird, random things that [he's] doing or thinking about.” He gave credit to the fans saying he wouldn’t be where he’s at without them. Twitter followers of David, stick with him, because he said that his road manager will be keeping his twitter updated with news and info on him. Overall, the video was very special and emotional, and David, or as many fans call him Archie, closed out saying QUOTE: “I will see you in two years. God Bless.” Let us know if you’re sad to see David take a long break from the spotlight and also let us know if you’re impressed with David’s dedication to taking such a bold risk – feel free to share your thoughts and comments below. “Talented and has a Boy-Next Door Charm – that’s how I would describe American Idol Season 7 runner up David Archuleta. After winning second place against David Cook, his rise to stardom did not falter. He even got more recognized with his amazing voice. And last February 17 at the Trinoma Activity Center, Bench and professional hair care label, Bench Fix introduced him as one of their newest endorsers.”

I was at the store lined up for the Autograph signing and saw David lurking inside the store picking out clothes with Kari, Bench peeps and Mr. Ben Chan.
Here it is! The much awaited Music Video of Nandito Ako
MANILA, Philippines – “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta did a pictorial for fashion brand Bench on Monday.
“Having fun at the @benchtm photoshoot! Good times with the Bench family haha,” Archuleta said via Twitter.
Ben Chan, head honcho of the popular local brand, also teased Twitter followers.
“Guess who’s the next @benchtm endorser?” he asked, adding a link to a photo of Archuleta covering his face with his hands.
This has been a busy time for the American singer, who also performed during the fireworks competition event, Close Up Pyropalooza, at the SM Mall of Asia over the weekend.
He is also shooting a TV series and recording an album of original Filipino songs.
Although this is his fourth visit to the Philippines, he said feels this is the most special.
“It’s like I have a family here now. People are very hospitable,” he said.
Archuleta has announced that he is taking two years off from the music industry.
“I’m taking time away from everything from music, my family and I’ll go serve a mission for my church. It was a tough decision to make,” he said.
“I’m a Mormon. You see the guys with the nametags and shirt and tie,” he added.
Archuleta, however, promised that after doing his missionary work, he will return to making music. — Report from Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN News
